OLD CODE (2012):
Lateral loads were not directly referenced in Part 9, except for masonry and guards [see A-9.4.1.1.(3)]
NEW CODE (2024):
New Section 9.23.13. Bracing for Resistance to Lateral Loads has been added, with new terms braced wall bands and braced wall panels. Detailed appendix notes and sketches have also been added. [see A-9.23.13.]
These requirements, combined with new fastener schedules (i.e. new tables 9.23.3.5.B and C), will mean a significant change to typical on-site construction practices and may require additional inspection time.
